they tend to hover around woodwork, functional metalwork, conceptual designs and Steam locomotives
hit a minor snag the other day. i had initially believed that i had completed the T-5a when i ran tubing from the boiler to the control box to the engine, and got it running on live steam for the first time. it was only after i rigged up a simple drive train with bevel gears and a universal joint off a gas pwered remote control truck that i realized the tractor`s Mamod boiler lacked both pressure and steam capacity to move my engine, quite literally. under her own steam. however, i am currently awaiting parts for a Wilesco D406, a kit to build a complete one in fact. just for the amount of parts i now need to retro fit the T-5. such as boiler

just writing some thoughts about a project ive been working on for the past couple months. ive been playing around with the idea of applying the same concept of a Hiesler locomotive to a steam tractor. saw one the other day on youtube that had something similar to a Shay. it was a Phoenix half track steam tractor used for hauling logs.  the idea of applying the Hiesler drive to a tractor is actually very intriguing from an enginnering standpoint. with a central driveline to the front and rear transaxles, you have the full weight of the engine contributing to the tractive force on the wheels. not only that, but a V-twin or V4 steam engine cou

I have a little bit of a problem. i like to build and operate my own steam engines. well, not as of recent, because i have neither the space, equipment or time to build them properly. i also work in bulk fuel, so firing up a welder or O/A welding/cutting gear in the shop might be a tad daft. might get me busted down to private too, come to think of it. but anyhow, i can imagine every aspect of a design with just about anything. what it will be made of, how it is assembled, even how well it will function once its built. the issue i have is putting said design on paper. its actually kind of annoying to draw something out, know what everything
